January, 2012

Wow, did THIS month have a lot packed into it!!!

First, I am so, so excited to share that I was up for a series regular role in an ABC pilot!!  I'm so grateful to Janet Murphy-Butler and Allison Shomer for giving me the opportunity to audition for "Counter Culture"!  It was so cool (and a bit surreal) to get to meet Carol Kane in the waiting room and chat a bit!!  I just loved her in The Princess Bride!

Then, at the end of the month, I had the amazing opportunity to meet with Sue Winik of Sheplin-Winik Artists, Inc.  I am thrilled to announce that she is now representing me for TV, Film, Industrials and Theater!!  I HAVE A LEGIT AGENT NOW, HOORAY!!!!!

Now that I have 2 members of my representation team assembled, I'm interviewing for the last puzzle piece; that of Commercial Agent!  If you're interested in applying, give me a shout!  :o)

More updates to come...!

October 22, 2011

Guess what?!  Time for another update!!  :o)

It's been a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks.  It started with my son, Kevin's, deployment to Afghanistan on August 14th and hasn't really slowed down too much since!

Upon returning home from seeing Kev off from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, I headed up to Northern New Jersey to shoot the WebMD segment on Diabetes that I had booked through Carol Nadell.  I had to opportunity to work with a wonderful cast and crew! Director Virginia DiBernardo was terrific!

Next, I headed down to Atlanta to start the 'boot camp' rehearsals for "Motherhood The Musical".  But we had to wait for Hurricane Irene to make her way through the NorthEast before we could leave!  We had in intense 2 weeks down there during which time I got injured while first executing some staging that involved a couch and jumping... I'll just leave it at that!   Unfortunately, I am currently unable to perform with the cast, but my fabulous understudy, Miss Ashley Turba, absolutely ROCKED!  I'm so incredibly proud of her and the work she did.  The show is up and running now, so if y'all are in the neighborhood, check it out!  It's at Society Hill Playhouse.  If all goes well, I should be back in the production toward the end of this year or the beginning of 2012!  I'll keep ya posted...

In the meantime, with the help of fabulous friends, like Jen Ponton (who just was cast as the lead and title role in the independent film "Franny"!!!) and Catherine Ryan, I've been able to continue building relationships by attending casting director workshops up in NYC.  If nothing else, the crutches make me memorable!!  :o)

And I did have the opportunity to audition for a nice little co-star role in "Homeland" with Mandy Patinkin & Claire Danes!  I didn't book it, but I'm very happy with how well the audition went!  Thanks very much to Judy Henderson of Judy Henderson Casting for giving me a shot!

Also, I just got word from the director of the short film I shot last summer (2010) that the edits are finished and it's now heading to the festival circuit!!  He's submitted it to Sundance!  Now we just need to hear back if it was accepted or not!!  How cool is THAT???   The short is titled "A Birthday for Melody".  It is not yet available for public viewing, but as soon as it is, I will post the link on here.  You can check out the director, James Skylar's other work here.  It was an amazing experience!  We shot in 2 days in Brooklyn and Manhattan!  I think it's lovely and can't wait to share it with you all!

And finally, the tour de force...  I will be part of a live installation of an art piece in Bergen, Norway over Thanksgiving!!  Luckily, I only have to sit there and cry, so my leg injury is not an issue.  It's for artist Einat Amir.  It will be installed at Bergen Kunsthall.  I'm really excited because I've never been to Norway!  Heck, the only place I've been outside of the US is Aruba and Canada!  But Canada's attached, so I don't really consider that "out of the country"!  :o)   Anyway, it's sure to be an adventure and, since I can't spend Thanksgiving with my son, it's perfect timing, as far as I'm concerned!

Well, that's everything for now...  I'll let you know when more exciting things pop!

August 10, 2011

Well, August's been a pretty interesting month so far!

This past weekend, I participated in a workshop on imaging with Sam Christensen.  What an amazing and intense weekend!!  If you get a chance, check out his website (just click on his name; if I did this correctly, it should take you right to his website!).  This is something from which I think ANYONE would benefit.  It helps you understand what you project the moment folks meet you.  Like I said, REALLY interesting!

Then, out of the blue, I received a call from the lovely Carol Nadell (truly one of the nicest people in the casting business!!) of Selective Casting to audition for a WebMD project yesterday, which I just found out I booked!!  Look for me soon as a 'non-compliant diabetes patient'!  :o)   I'm sooo grateful that Carol remembered me and gave me this opportunity!  I look forward to shooting on the 17th!

Coming up...  On 8/22 I start rehearsals for "Motherhood The Musical" which will be opening on October 6th at Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia.  I'll let you know how it is!!  ;o)

And on a non-professional note...

1) Today, my parents would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary!

2) My son, Kevin, deploys to Afghanistan with the US Marines on 8/14.  Please keep him and all the service men and women in your thoughts and prayers.  Thanks!

Here's to looking forward to more updates...!

I'm so excited!  Jason Sasportas, a Voice-Over agent with the wonderful boutique agency STEWART TALENT, and I have agreed to begin working together as Agent and VO Talent!  Jason will be repping me for AFTRA and SAG voice-over projects.

I'm so looking forward to this!  Jason has a wonderful energy about him and is truly dedicated to making business relationships dynamic and harmonious.  He also reps some of my fellow voice-over artists, such as Rich Orlow, Deb Seif, Jim O'Hare and Suzanne Landgren (but don't get the two Suzannes mixed up!! lol...)   I actually have Rich to thank for making the introductions, so please be sure to check out Rich's page!

Check back here for news when I book my first VO job through Jason!!  I can't wait and I'm sure it will be soon!
